A feature-length Darth Kermit meme that’s so ridiculous it borders on camp!
Wan’s direction delivers some cool shots and fun set pieces, but the dialogue feels straight out of a Lifetime movie—almost entirely exposition.
And damn, that Where Is My Mind cover? Both a banger and a hilariously on-the-nose hint at the story.
Starts off very strong, and the first two acts work extremely well as a tandem, supported by really great visuals. The third act however feels almost like a tacked-on part from a completely different movie and ends the whole thing on a weak and contrived note.
Still pretty great for the most part, but I wish the third act were something different.
I’m sorry, Timmy, but this is the real musical biopic of the season.
A refreshingly earnest and vulnerable take on an incredibly stale genre—it definitely brought me to tears a couple of times.
The visuals are bonkers. I was surprised by just how much of it was CGI! Sure, it’s rough at points, but this isn’t a billion-dollar Disney production, and it actually works—Robbie the monkey included.
An immortal buddy cop classic. I probably haven’t seen it for 20 years or so (!), and it still holds up really well.
The action is great, the chemistry is perfect, and it’s not quite HK-era Jackie, but the fights are still very enjoyable. And it’s only a breezy 90 minutes!
