We’ve got parts Jurassic Park, Jaws, Dunkirk, Independence Day, and Armageddon. The human story might be the best ever, bordering on melodramatic at times, but emotionally effective. This cost a measly $15M and looks better than anything Marvel/Disney/DC have put out in years. I enjoyed it even more than Shin and this is going in the top tier of Zilla films.

Go see this in the biggest and loudest screen possible.

This is what happens when you let a nature documentarian with a love of Bergman, Kubrick, Coppola, and Spielberg direct the most audacious science-fiction material ever made on a promise. We are doomed. I wonder how Simon Stalenhag feels about this? I hope he got a truckload of cash at least.

Hailee Steinfeld can make anything pretty good.

Big win for us Baker bros. Madison is clearly exceptional but I was stunned by Borisov’s performance here. You go through just about every emotion on this journey and it’s fucking funny. Not sure I’ll be rushing out for a repeat viewing anytime soon (just like the Safdies’ films for me), but it’s well worth the ride.

Darkest movie of the year. Eggers at it again but there’s not any one THING which might elevate this above all the other versions of this story. A Christmas movie!

Millions of poor souls are going to watch this in a year when it’s on some streamer and the black crush is going to rival Game of Thrones. So if you’re not a physical media head, please go see this in theatres.
