  Watching these people wear so much clothes in what is obviously oppressive heat made me thirsty for the coldest drink. I wonder if Peter weir considers this his magnum opus. From what I’ve seen, he should. It was a great watch. Colors, fun camera work, some beautiful aesthetically bold shots, intrigue, fear, grief, a pinch of disgust, a lot of mystery. It had it all. Nothing was turned up to 11, but not everything has to be.

  I love being surprised when a movie is good. Way better writing and direction than most of the low budget garbage I usually watch. This is a little trashy, but it’s definitely not trash.

  How had I never even heard of this before? This is exactly what I want in an Italian gore film:
  the thinnest flake of a plot,
  some form of offensive material or perversion,
  gratuitous rotting corpses,
  and cruel, bloody murder.
  Could have used more full frontal nudity, though. No wieners.
