I’m pretty sure I discovered this before, but I truly believe that Jenna Ortega can polish a turd.
    All 3 stars for her.
She is the most magical being in this ‘Cocaine Bear-gone-mystic’ that just couldn’t nail its tone for me.
A24 by another name? Or the new new?

Ever wanted to fact-check an animated film?
This movie was blurring the fantastic with non-fiction so hardcore, I couldn’t tell what was Darwin and what was Dystopia.

I was so locked in though, that I didn’t care the backgrounds were exquisitely rendered in 4K and the characters looked like Nintendog DS cut scenes.

“Just look at all that passion up on the wall.”
Freeman’s first line in the film is the best description of my 30th anniversary IMAX experience.

‘Two cops chase down a serial killer’ ain’t nothing new, but Fincher made it fresh. Albeit gritty, grimy, filthy fresh.
Seriously. There is NO sunshine in this film until the revelatory final scenes.
The (4) leads nailed down their future with their performances here. And the ensemble character actors make this non-descript town feel…

    Wowsers.
    What a trip.
The first 2/3 of this doc was an epic tap into share house VHS on repeat.
Jackass, Bam, Eric Andre and every Social Media prankster needs to bow down, obviously. But wasn’t so hip to his vision/pioneering in online presentation/podcasting.
Biggest beef (and kudos for addressing it from the jump) : as much as it feels like an attempt to be brutally honest directing an autobiography about yourself, I think you can’t get close to warts-and-all unless there’s an independent investigation involved.

As a doc, probably 3 stars.
High-ish rating is for the nostalgia fix.
