Ken Burns' Jazz isn't bad per se, just frustrating. As many have pointed out, the overall tone towards the end of the series swings back and forth between implicit and explicit dismissal of any development in jazz music beyond the mid-1960s. I have always been put off by films merely pandering to tropes. I guess this film had to happen though, it was inevitable. The Expendables wasn't enough, someone had to go that one step further to make the ultimate 80s cliché flick.
