Ponman 2025
keeping it subtle is a art that is very rarely seen done perfectly. Ponman came so close to doing that.
Ponman's arrival marks another entry into the list of films that I consider to be "situational dramas". Films that don't drag on too long, with a core moral in mind and surrounds around events that spring from a singular action and explains the personalities and quirks of the people involved along the way.

Kannur Squad 2023
This is like Unda(2019) but on steroids.
The setting, the characters and some moments are reminescent of the 2019 cop drama. They even have the 3 actors from the film.
It's an almost run of the mill investigative thriller. Almost because it avoids most of the pitfalls of a generic thriller and delivers on action, comedy and those little, precious moments of triumph which is so so important for such a film.

Shahi Kabir decided to ditch whatever that made his stories interesting because this felt like a run of the mill story centered around the never-ending plots of drugs.
The motivation for the group of antagonists was wafer thin and there was a.lack of flow and coherence in the second half (especially during exposition). That being said Vishakh did pretty well considering how one dimensional his character was.
KuBo can do only so much to elevate a sub par film into a above average experience. The only strong positives about this is it's very well done fights and the sound design.
