First things first. I am a VERY big fan of Nightwish and have listened to their music since I first heard the Oceanborn album in 1998 and was completely blown away by them. When Tarja was tossed out of the band for getting too bigheaded/greedy, I stuck with them, and Toumas continued to write powerful, genre defining music.

That said, I wanted very badly to give this 5 stars.

    The soundtrack is superb.
    The visuals are fantastic.

    The child actors…

As I watched this film, I felt sadness at first for the things these boys had to endure. Then, as things just kept getting worse, the sadness was overshadowed by anger. Then, as the tragedy escalated, the anger was amplified by an infinite tower of hatred. It was not easy to watch.

It's intresting this film. At first it seems so black and white, but all these people are more complicated than that.

I believe I just watched an epic battle between good and evil, and everybody lost.

I delayed watching this for a year or so because the description on Netflix was "meh." But, last night I put it on as I was eating my dinner. WOW, it surprised me. This film was a delight. The only other movie I can think of that sort of feels like this one is Amelie. This was MUCH better than I had expected it to be. It was overall a very very good film. I am undecided if this film is a "perfect" film or if it's just a "damn good" film, so for now I'll give 4.5 stars.

This movie is insanely awesome. Not much happens during the film, but the humanity of the story is second to none. This movie was all about great visuals and great character development, and it's one of the very best ever made.
