A few years ago, there seemed to be an uptick in films centered around cults, islands, and eat the rich style storylines. If you’ve seen any of those, then you cannot have Opus spoiled for you. It follows a template set by so many before it to a tee. It’s quite shocking we never got a second twist. It’s clear this is a cult and they are evil but the movie does a slow rollout that feels so far behind…
This movie has no filler. She’s a vampire Hunter within 15 minutes, the town gets its vampire gang assembled, and then they die. It has some fun moments, a smoking hot lead, and a ton of famous faces in small roles. It’s good. Never tried to elevate itself or take itself serious enough to be anything better tho.
