“The cruellest thing of all is false hope”
Fish Tank captures this sentiment with devastating precision. “Watched” isn’t as accurate as to say I endured this film. By the end of its runtime, my need for catharsis could’ve rivalled that of the characters. Absolutely no expense is spared in making sure the audience understands just how dire the situation is for this family. It’s grim and uncomfortable, and might be the best depiction of poverty I’ve ever seen.
