It leans into a somewhat easy generational cynicism. It gets a bit more interesting at some point with the 'male gathering,' but it doesn’t take that part as far as it could—pushing it to an absurd place, for example. Overall, it’s a very ugly movie, poorly directed.
Too much explanation, too many long expository dialogues, despite this being a film with the potential for openness and the circulation of free symbols.
Not the best timing for discussing the state of Israel in that tone. However, as someone smarter than me once said, it is an interesting approach to use Jewish people to talk about immigrants in America at this point in history. Still, the execution feels clumsy, irritating, and overly long.
Haven’t we made enough films about The Obsessed Male Genius?

Worth it for the Camargue setting (French cowboys!) and for the cast. Exceptional.
Downsides:
- A bit old. We've seen it in Um Ramo in 2007, by Juliana Rojas and Marco Dutra; we've read it in Faunes by Christiane Vadnais. There are other examples out there. Same story, different setting.
- I'm not sure I like the principle of women blending with nature and darkness in order to gather power.
- It is full of good intentions, but I'm wondering…
Uma comédia que faz rir (check), politicamente intrigante (check), despretensiosa (check), e atual (check).
