While I understand the problems people have with it, X feels the most committed to its genre out of the trilogy. That is, I don’t think it’s trying to say anything about its subject matter, at least not in the way that the ‘film community’ has surmised. It kinda just feels like someone saw The Texas Chain Saw Massacre and thought, “that looks fun. I’m gonna do that.” and then tied two separate scripts into it.
