  What if the horror was looking your true self in the face for an instant and then slamming the door shut and spending the next 30 years pretending you didn't see what you saw. What if the horror was realizing that you would rather suffocate than face who you are and who you should be and who you could be if you only weren't so afraid. What if the horror was telling yourself for decades that as long as you don't think about it, everything is fine.

  If you like John Cusack as an actor, this is a great vehicle for him. This movie is essentially just him and a bunch of background players. It's by far my favorite Stephen King horror adaptation and possibly my favorite King adaptation, period. Watch it for the ability to menacingly sing "We've Only Just Begun" at random to the people you've watched it with.

  - The theatrical ending is the best ending in my opinion, and I absolutely don't think it's "less depressing". I guess it depends on what you think of as depressing.
