Two Phoebe Bridgers songs and still sub 3 stars, yikes. I liked a lot of individual elements of this film, but the way everything came together was a bit dull, unnecessarily so. And cringed at some too-on-the-nose soundtrack lyrics.

World class acting, but the plot did not hit for me. I wanted Survivor meets House of Cards, and I got Desperate Housewives in the Sistine Chapel. Why the storyline with Benitez being a secret cardinal? No point and no payoff. I enjoyed the themes of doubt and certainty when they arose, but overall the story felt clunky and contrived. I walked away disappointed that more was not done with this rather intriguing premise.

Basically There Will Be Blood for architects. So richly immersive it makes 3 1/2 hours feel not long enough. The editing and soundtrack elevate mere sad/uncomfortable situations to nearly interactive, gut-wrenching journeys. And there is a slow burn feel about the progression that passively builds intensity even when seemingly mundane things are happening or when there's a time jump. It's about a lot of things. Genius and ambition, patience, classism and xenophobia, raw and unglamorous ways of loving, jealousy, addiction, and so many others. If this doesn't deeply affect you, please grow a heart. No-brainer 5 star.

I wish parents didn't try so hard to protect their kids from really knowing them.
