The Galaxy Invader 1985
Movie #2 of a Don Dohler double whammy Monday night. Shot in the same sorts of woods and barrooms in rural Maryland as The Alien Factor from a few years prior but didn’t hit quite as hard for me but also my brain is admittedly kind of fried from watching serval hours of this stuff in one sitting.

The Alien Factor 1978
Shot outside Baltimore and is apparently John Waters’ favorite Don Dohler flick. The different aliens look pretty sick and the score is rad. (LP recently released on the great Mystic Vault if horror soundtracks are your thing)

McCabe & Mrs. Miller 1971
Once I got over feeling like he should have wiped the camera lens off and was able to lock into the hazy, muddy setting as a whole and appreciate those sorts of details not only visually but also with the sound design. This was my first viewing and it’s one of those that I bet when I watch it a second time I’ll be like “yeah this is a masterpiece.”

The Cruise 1998
A documentary I was turned onto in the early 00s when I was working at a video store (RIP) in Raleigh and was getting *into* film/art/etc. I love old New York (this was made in 1998, which I guess is old now) and Timothy Speed Levich is a kook that always stuck with me. An all-timer for me.
