  Creature from the Black Lagoon 1954

  Watched on Svengoolie. I think Sven filmed this full show in 2011, but added some new ones for this release (3/22/2025). Watch Svengoolie! Even if MeTV keeps trying to get me to buy bootleg slap-chops. (Also, TIL it stands for "Memorable Entertainment Television"!)

  Decent flick. Not gonna call it particularly stunning -- it's very fifties, bombshell babe and swarthy hero challenged by a horrific beast in some wild lands with some incredibly loud orchestral music -- but the Creature is pretty cool. I love the effects when it breaths on land and its gills flex.

  Also, spotted a long nosed gar! Love that wet beast.

  Great show, especially considering it's one of their live events and not a proper PPV.

  Star for me was the Rascalz/Ace vs. Wes/Tyriek/Tyson; just a great match, and the lucha rules made it super fast-paced, even moreso than usual. Loved Ash and Heather and the Personal Concierge winning the belts off Spitfire -- I think they're funny, and also Spitfire's had the belt for too long anyway. Also nice to see an NXT KO's team teased.

  Attack of the Killer Tomatoes! 1978

  Watched on Svengoolie, who is very funny. I also like his little Nostalgiaferatu fella.

  Anyway, this movie scared the fuck out of me as a kid. But watching it as an adult? Actually a solid ... uh, satire? B-movie? It's clearly making fun of a number of things, chiefly the sort of b-movie you'd expect from a movie called Attack of the Killer Tomatoes! Also, surprising amount of musical numbers (which I did not remember). I did not remember most of the plot, though, which is on me for taking decades to rewatch this. Had a ton of fun with it though.

  Also, watch Svengoolie.
