Wish I could’ve seen this on stage. The setting and slightly over-the-top monologues might have felt more at home there.
Some interesting philosophical questions posed here, like how exactly a young couple back then—one of whom was apparently a struggling pianist—could afford a penthouse in Manhattan with floor-to-ceiling windows, a maid, and valet service.

This was one of the best movie-going experiences I’ve had in a long time. And thank god, because I waited nearly 3 hours in the standby line to get a ticket to see this one.
This wasn’t a perfect film; there were some scenes I could’ve done without—especially that scene in act 2 that felt a bit heavy handed—and I would’ve preferred a bit more runtime devoted to Erszebet in the second act, but The Brutalist is moving and powerful…
