Like swimming in a pool of oil. Kill is so relentlessly bleak and cruel that it totally fails to entertain as the badass, button-mashing action spectacle its trying to be. Sure, the Raid movies are also pretty extreme in their grittiness but Gareth Evans wasn’t pausing to show you the loved ones of the deceased screaming in agony every time Iko Uwais took out one of the criminals.
