Such an epic film, and I can’t believe it came out in 1959, predating any James Bond film that it was to clearly influence greatly. I mean, take one look at Cary Grant as Roger Thornhill and then look at any Sean Connery Bond film.

What a horrifying concept, a man and his dog fused together following a deadly, disfiguring bomb attack. I’m glad these details was glazed over because as soon as I started to think about it further I found myself wondering into dark territory. The film does delve into the consequences somewhat, with the man’s wife leaving the now ‘Dogman’ to fend for himself. Quite depressing but anyway, that’s not what the film is about.

I can’t remember where I heard about this film but I am so glad I watched it. A fun lighthearted comedy with a great 1980s score by Danny Elfman. Wholesome is a word I would use to describe Midnight Run, despite also featuring crazy car chases (straight out of the Blues Brothers) and a fractious relationship at its core.
