  Look, I hate to say this but I expected to love this and I kind of just didn’t. While this movie is aesthetically jaw dropping (seriously goddamn), plot wise this feels like a fuckin dude bro movie (like the movies that shitty dudes tend to love) but without being as layered as some of the better examples of dude bro movies (think Goodfellas). I feel like Mann recognizes the shittyness of Frank’s whole cisheteropatriarchal worldview on some level but unfortunately…

  Kinda just ok! Suffers from pacing issues, and it never really excites me in the mode that Fury Road does. Chris Hemsworth is really fun to watch, and I enjoy Anya Taylor-Joy, but there's a lack of a vector here that makes it difficult for me to love. Maybe I just need to be more in the mood for it? Whatever. Worth a watch probably but don't run, walk. Giving this a 7/10 because I feel split. That joke worked better before I edited this to a 2.5. Alas.

  I decided to watch part of this every night based on the nights it’s set on (Thursday Halloween to Election Night Tuesday), and like, fuck, this is probably the best modern live-action superhero movie, I was gonna write about it, it was gonna be great. 

  Unfortunately! The end of it hits a little different now! Fuck!
