Ferris Bueller's Day Off 1986
Dialogue, and monologue for that matter, hardly get any better than this.
I watch this movie through Vonnegut’s axes of good fortune and ill fortune where he cites Hamlet as being the moldbreaker for story telling, following no traditional line of storytelling and outcomes. This movie breaks the mold in its own way. Does Ferris change in any kind of meaningful way? Is a lesson learned at all? What is the point of any of the detail along the way…

The Peanut Butter Falcon 2019
Twain created the blueprint for the story, but there are few movies I find to be this good with this simple of a premise.
Southernisms, contemplations of brotherhood, people finding meaning on the margins of society. Also includes the best possible use of Gregory Alan Isakov’s “Stable Song.”

The Santa Clause 1994
The older I get, the more I realize this is less about Santa, elves, Christmas, as it is anti-divorce propaganda.
Also Neal is a nerd.
