  Poor man's Gaspar noe. It's trying to be provocative, but it fails to be thought provoking. Formally, it has interesting moments and several pretty shots, but it's not a film you would watch for cinematography. For that it ends up being too focused on telling a story instead of sharing an emotion. And the story is 't that strong. Also, loads of male gazing.

  Simple Men 1992

  This is one of my favourite films for a reason. I rewatch it every now and then when I'm kinda down but hopeful. Every moment of Simple Men is brilliant. It mixes plain with absurd and it contains some of the best lines of dialogue. And then there's the dance. Hal Hartley's approach to romance, storytelling and fashion inspire me every time.
