Bleak and colorless, intellectually arrogant, verbose yet pointless, another victim of one’s own hubris.
This is both Lydia Tar and the film. A couple flashes of clever or brilliant are not enough to make this as important as it thinks it is. Adequate execution, with no heart and no surprises.
2.4 stars for Cate, who is captivating as a cold, horrid, manipulative genius.

Why are films like this made? Any part that was not boring was either annoying or disgusting. No likable characters, too long, essentially pointless.
Maybe I’m not the audience for eccentric Scandinavian films; but I like Lanthimos, so.
This has same vibe of style and look over story as French Dispatch, Buster Scruggs and Nomadland - quirky, beautifully shot, emotionless snoozefests.Translated from by
