The soundtrack and cinematography are great and so is the premise. The acting never feels forced and the emotion all feels natural in term of Dayveon’s interaction with gang members. While it's fine for a movie to not be completely faithful to the source material, this strays a little too far. Key plot points have been revised (i couldn’t tell you why honestly) and if you’ve read the book the differences can be obnoxious and disjointed and may impact the pleasure you get out of watching it. It feels loosely based upon the book which is my biggest criticism. Nonetheless the scenery is really pleasant.

This is such an amazing movie. I definitely cried multiple times during this. The cinematography is stunning and the soft and atmospheric color palette represents hidden desire and finding your true essence. The ending also leaves room for interpretation in a clever way and places responsibility on the audience to investigate and think of every chapter in detail. I would recommend pausing and making connections between each chapter (ex. the usage of color, prominent sounds you hear throughout every chapter, facial expressions.)
