  Mamma Mia! 2008

  i haven’t watched a movie so deficient in substance in a long time. what’s most perplexing is how it seems to be aware of its own mediocrity. the impetus of this film from the get-go is already extremely unrealistic and portrays blondes in the worst light. as this film continues, we see flimsy movements in the plot poorly complemented by abba songs. each scene seems to either repeat the previous or indulge in dialogue that lacks emotion and purpose. sure, the songs are great. but if i wanted the songs, i’d just listen to the soundtrack. jeez.

  Falsettos 2017

  this is my second watch of falsettos i'm pretty sure. despite four years passing, i was not able to shed a single tear. it's not that i'm unnaturally cold, it's just that this musical seems to be catered toward a very adult audience. surprisingly, i'm not there yet. you could say it's adult people problems. maybe i'm not in the mood either? or honestly, i just don't dig the music.

  anyway, there are tons of details i could nitpick to…
