I want to say that this film would be so much better without the heavy handed Garden of Eden metaphor, but honestly there’s a lot of dumb stuff here mixed in with the creepy naked man.

Everything in this film disappointed me. I have no qualms with the acting. Though the writing, directing, and source material -- this just inherently gets the essence of Shirley Jackson wrong. I also think that it plays into this dangerous "tormented artist" stereotype the utterly degrades the accomplishments of the brilliant, fantastic writer that Shirley Jackson was. This bullshit honestly offends me.
