A love story which deals in the weirdness and particularness of love and all its trial and error and solution. Reynolds and Alma are not characters that we see ourselves in, rather they are characters that we can see inside ourselves if we look closely enough. The eerie spirit singing her minimalist song about the obliterating finality of death almost gave me an existential crisis right here on my couch. The Bling Ring 2013
Like eating all the candy you want and not getting a stomach ache. It's entirely, almost annoyingly, indulgently fun, but all of the weirdism of 21st century emptiness and the sarcasm of the kids being so clueless about the stakes of what they're dealing with. We love it.
