Gorgeous movie. Beautiful fog and shadows. The scenes on the boat reminded me of L’Atalante. Nicole Paige Brooks - I mean Louise Brooks, charming and beautiful.

The racism and brown face kind of ruin the movie, which isn’t great anyway, but could be of a cute romp without the stereotypes. Somehow I watched it all the way through without pausing it. Maybe it was the Austin Powers music holding it together.

Listen, this doesn’t really reward repeat viewings with new insights but if you love Bob Dylan it’s just fun to sit and watch the songs in a theater with other people and it’s really loud and fun okay? Also it was my dad’s idea to see this again and he wore his Bob Dylan shirt and I took his picture next to the poster.
