Slept on this for a long time. Always heard good things and I wasn’t disappointed. Great cast and solid action. Deceptively simple and expertly layered. The quiet moments of espionage or character development are broken up by blistering fight sequences at all the right moments, all packed neatly into 90 minutes.

Solid action revenge flick that felt like a real throwback to 80’s action movies. High body count, scummy villains and great fight choreography. Tech bros are the new street thugs and I’m here for it. Statham is obviously a highlight here. My only gripe is the FBI stuff kinda kills the pace towards the latter half. There are moments where I’m just pondering what the beekeeper is doing. I also realized I could have just been watching a taut Jason Statham bee keeping drama and been ok with that too. Making honey and brooding over his dark past while he has dinners with Claire Huxtable.

An early aughts western and you can feel it. The cast is a mixed bag and Ashton Kutcher is so out of place in a western that it’s jarring. There’s the potential for some decent stuff in here but not enough time is paid to those threads or characters making it all feel very vague and surface level. A fine sick in bed watch or hangover movie, you can fall asleep at any point and it doesn’t much matter. This isn’t good but it’s at the very least watchable.

Many Godzilla films juxtapose bureaucracy with chaos. This ties the chaos and consequence with real emotional weight. It’s a post WW2 era drama with great action and heart… and one of the most brutal iterations of Godzilla. At times it oddly feels like Jaws which I was kinda digging. Even more points for straight up trying to kill Godzilla by giving him the bends. I loved this. Glad I was able to catch it in IMAX before it left theaters.
