Specced entirely into creature design and creative cinematography. All good shots are about monster. As with the others, character complexity and plot (strung together just by an exotic native trope woman who barely speaks and it hot) are entirely lacking while being a little serious, juxtaposed here by the slapstick comedy of minilla and his stressed adoptive dad. Off-putting how human their personalities are.

I thought it was quite strange that they reference red as a women's color.

Interesting chips on shoulders of a child raised by a child on the fringe of society. Feels dystopian but also relatively plausible. Not what I'm used to from Dafoe, you can feel his struggle and how hard he tries to protect his residents and is strict but cares for the kids and their innocence.

The end was quite jarring. I was tearing up and then it jumped to real disney world. It makes sense to cut it there it just took me out.

I enjoyed the movie for the most part, interesting casting (sex ed cast), good sets and outfits, fun social phenomenon to dress up for. Man humor was funny.

That said, I had an extra eye out for regressive politics and there’s a lot to say on that front. Lots of product placement: berks, chanel, Chevrolet, Apple, fender

They co-opted the pushback on Barbie as a regressive brand and twisted it to both acknowledge and try to change how people see…

The way they play up the difference between the 2023 and the 80s kids is really insincere and basically labels the 2023 kid as “the overly progressive type”
Same problem as Barbie. What it’s actually doing is making her look ridiculous and co-opting progressive language. It’s undermining.
Making her into her mom is stupid
They overplay the whole girl power thing to the point where, like a lot of other things in this movie, it just feels unnatural
    The police…
