Woaaaaah mama this is epic! Within the first 10 minutes I couldn’t believe I was watching a film from 1969; truly pioneering and amazing editing in this.
And the music in this!
Looking forward to watching more US counterculture films from the 1960s.
Jon Voight is so good in this (it helped that I didn’t recognise him until the credits afterwards).
Underbelly of the American Dream meets repressed trauma mixed with a buddy movie with a hint of queer romance in the undercurrent and this is the film.
It’s sweet and sad.

I was entertained by this but I feel like this film never quite figured itself out. The tonal shifts and pacing lost me if I’m honest and I have also never been a fan of voiceovers as a means of narrative exposition either. There are things I enjoyed about this like Pattinson and Yeun’s performances as well as the premise of the film itself, but overall I didn’t connect with the execution.
