Paul W.S Anderson should be the only person allowed to make videogame movies. If Paul W.S Anderson made Super Mario Bros. it would win Best Picture

What do Tenet, Outer Wilds, Live Die Repeat, Annihilation, Bioshock Infinite and Avengers Endgame have in common?

They all wouldn’t exist without the groundbreaking sci-fi masterpiece Clockstoppers.

This may be hard for a blunt instrument to understand but arrogance and self awareness seldom go hand-in-hand.

Watching every Bond in order the way I have really drives home the impact of this. Bond has always adapted to whatever era he is in but 2006 was the perfect coalition of contemporary stylistic trends and the Bond character.

By the later Brosnan films, Bond had lost sight of what was cool with its campy, ridiculous energy. In the post 9/11…

Kobayashi is such a fascinating, brilliant character. This doc should have just been about him and delved deep into the huckster Americans who used and exploited him. The people who used racist jingoistic garbage to peddle a hot dog eating competition so that racist fucks could cheer on the empty headed American homeboy and shout racist epithets.

The doc just doesn’t go far enough. Fuck George Shea.

“But you never know where you’ll end up though eh? You can live wherever you want to live. Be whoever you want to be. you have time...”

Watched this for the first time Sunday and already rewatching it two days later, cannot remember the last time I’ve rewatched a movie so quickly. This is so delicate and beautiful, all the small moments building on one another until waves of emotion come crashing through in the end. My favourite film of 2022
