Watched because it’s an Oscar contender. Wondered throughout how it is an Oscar contender.
Making this operatic and having them sing the dialogue doesn’t hide the appalling script or how unnatural the dialogue is. (Who approved “man to woman, penis to vagina” as a lyric?)
Have since learned this was written by French writers, translated into Spanish and performed by ‘Hollywood’ actors which actually explains a lot.
The parade in Emilia’s honour at the end just doesn’t sit right with…
