i know it's supposed to be a film about romance but my favourite aspect of her is how it portrays loneliness and how theo experiences it. i love the soundtrack, the droning and the space between the piano keys. the hazy, bleached aesthetic of theo's world - plus the set is so gorgeous. his job at beautifullyhandwrittenletters.com, the letters he writes. the scene of him watching the street performer dance. i'm struggling to adequately put it into words but her just makes me feel things.

i love the aesthetics and deliberate cinematography! i appreciated the tension-building in the first half, but unfortunately, it loses steam as it goes on. apart from the obviously gruesome parts of the movie, i also loved the bits of subtle horror. florence pugh is great.

the bits on self discovery were so moving to watch - just a young boy following his heart against society and his family ☹️ esp the swan lake bit, they actually made him fly!
i loved the mother-son-ish relationship between billy and mrs wilkinson, the eventual understanding that billy’s family showed him, the scene with the police + ballet class singing and moving together, the conflict of principles/ integrity vs giving your son a chance, the super SUPER creative stage design and the goofy little gay kid ☺️ most of all elliot janna’s commitment passion and grace! unbelievable!
