No drummer sounded like Gary Young in those early Pavement EPs and Slanted Enchanted days. He was the perfect fit for the band. The tone of the drums, the simple three stroke hi-hat accent in Summer Babe, the lead into In The Mouth A Desert, the in media res intro to Linden (Lions), and the long winding fill of So Stark (You’re A Skyscrapper). He essentially created the sound of Pavement in his studio, what a dude.
