Just phenomenal! While not perfect/masterpiece level, I really have so little to critique here, and feel I should rate it proportionally to just how much I purely enjoyed it in the theater.

Anora is such a blast. How beautifully does Sean Baker's writing and filming of this capture the feeling and spaces of his characters. The screenplay here is just delicious, only aided and elevated by the performances and improvisation from his actors, who all shine extremely brightly. One of…

Ohhhhhhh my god. If not flawless, it's damn close. The hype for this is incredibly real. I knew nothing about the plot going in, and that is ideal.

The best of every genre it touches. This is one of the best-woven stories I have ever come across- with wiry-thin strands diverting and intersecting, straining to fill out what you can tell will be a beautiful image in completion from the very onset. Bong Joon-Ho executed the direction of his own…

So relieved to have finally gotten around to seeing this, but even more so frustrated that I was not able to see this in theaters at all over the last nine months or so. If they didn’t want me to just watch it on Max, then they could’ve done a lot differently!

Expectations were sky-high for this, and it almost met them. It’s a remarkable story very worth telling, and the film itself pulls off an innovative balance of fact…

Man, just really not my thing! Pretty horrified to learn that this is the top-rated Bond movie ever on Letterboxd, because this just really didn’t do a whole lot for me, unfortunately. Between absolutely senseless plot points, the apparent lack of a single likable character, action sequences and dialogue sequences that made you wish you were seeing the other, and misguided editing throughout, this film was a bit of a slog.

Not entirely bad- some action set pieces really shredded, and…

Just as brilliant, entertaining, and affecting as the first go-round, but a nice revisit now that this is a multi-Oscar and Best Picture winner. Especially tried to focus on Baker’s editing and direction, since these were wins that I feel stood out from the historical archetype of past winners. Baker definitely does so many little things throughout this that, though not always flashy, remind you that he knows how to make a damn good movie. Special appreciation this time around for Borisov’s performance. Lots of gems to catch on a rewatch!

Watched with Jos at our Heritage Bay apartment.
