As mentioned in these reviews before definitely a bit style over substance, but visually fell in love with this and sometimes that‘s enough to make me love a movie altogether. Watched it in my favorite small cinema so that definitely added to the magic. Had a cigarette in the rain afterwards, listening to the elvis song. Was during a time I felt quite lonely on earth , very dramatic but that definitely created a fond memory of watching this. Watched it in the cinema 2 or 3 times (dont quite remember) since I didn’t know when I would be able to see it again.

Mia Goth is always stunning, also I‘m a big slasher fan but this one was just plain anticlimatic and boring to me. Maybe I‘m just too gore addicted and there was too little for me here but I yawned my way through it. Everything was predictable and slow burning in a not-keeping-you-at-the-edge-of-your-seat but in a I-will-soon-be-falling-asleep way. I know a lot of ppl loved this and I wish I could bring myself to but I just don‘t. Guess I prefer more over the top Rob-Zombie-esque slasher stuff.

Guinea Pig: Mermaid in the Manhole 1988

One of my all time favorites. When seldomly running into someone also into grotesque, horror and guro stuff in real life, this is always my go to recommendation. Body horror done in a way that I personally find stunning, also not as story-deprived as the other guinea pig series movies.
If you are a fan of the grotesque and morbid this one will be very pleasant to watch.
Love love love. If I ever was able to curate a selection…

Hammer and Sickle 1994

Trans bodies, soviet politics, war, love, toxic masculinity and heartbreak thrown into a pot and stirred around. Personally enjoyed watching it, in a dark way it's almost humorous, since the events after the initial first plot points are pretty unforeseeable (if you didn't read a summary before). I quite liked it but watching it on a cinema screen might've added to it, always makes stuff more magical to me.
Most visually pleasing scenes (since I'm superficial): The cocoon-esque metal thing…
