Fucking hell!!!!!!!! A very dark and traumatic film. Found it really hard to watch at times. Extremely sad that this is based on true events.
Beautifully shot though! Love a black and white film. Especially when you can see the texture of the highlights and shadows so poignantly.
I’m fully obsessed with the work of George Platt Lynes now. His use of lighting is the most beautiful and interesting thing I’ve seen in such a long time. I want to study in depth how he lights.
Found out about this photographer from a podcast with JW Anderson where he was talking about his cultural inspirations for the clothes in Luca Guadagnino’s film Queer.
Anyone interested in photography or lighting or beautiful art should watch this documentary about this guys work.
I watched this film in the cinema and fucking hated it so much, I just felt like all the decisions the characters made were reckless and unnecessary and then I went home and googled the premise of the film and then thought wow stunning piece of work.
I think sometimes (not always) it’s important to know where the artist / the director/ the photographer - is coming from when reviewing work
