  Outland 1981

  Somehow, this has always avoided me.  Really strong film, where it’s sci-fi more in concept and setting vs. the action itself.  This had such an Alien vibe even though it’s definitely a “high noon in space” and not a horror movie/creature feature.

  I was pleasantly surprised by Bodies Bodies Bodies, and that’s hard to expound upon without likely spilling some of the surprises.  Mostly, the marketing/trailer had me believing this was more of a raunchy satire where one (or many) or these twenty-somethings turn out dark n’ twisted.  So while I was intrigued, I was thinking that “tone” would ultimately turn me off to it.  Thankfully, it was lighter than that and focuses more on a fun-fueled crazed hysteria.  Rachel Sonnett, aka Shiva Baby, brings it again and delivers the standout performance amongst the ensemble.

  Now, that’s a friggin’’ ending!  Strange concoction of slasher-style feel with a 70s vibe (yet from ‘83).  Oh, and Charles Bronson doing his tough guy shit.
