Really liked the use of POV in this movie. It really helped to blur the line between the two boys. The shallow depth of field really helped narrow the vision and control what the audience sees. Such a powerful and important movie should absolutely be more widely promoted and viewed. This is one I will need to watch a couple of times to feel like I fully understand everything it is trying to shed light on.

An astounding film. The use of long lenses and the Vista Vision format really sold the feeling of claustrophobia and the trapped feeling of Laszlo. Absolutely stunning imagery from start to finish. It truly told the story of an artist tormented by their work and their life. Laszlo's character flaws brought a depth to his character that I rarely see. The movie, while long, held my attention the entire time. My mind did not wander as I watched. All I could do was focus on the characters, the story, and the visuals. I can't say enough about it.

Still don't like horror. Very well made movie. The Cinematography and makeup/prosthetics really make this movie what it is. An interesting dissection of pleasure and pain and how closely they can be linked for some. Eggers shows that a simple story is still effective. I'm sure there is some theme about society or something in there, but I just looked at it as an old fairy tale with a twist.

Ultimately, I feel like there are easier ways to introduce a third into your relationship. But I guess if you're into the whole vampire/rotting corpse thing, go off.
