Good experience, though sometimes this movie has so much going on that it’s hard to get a hold of. Pattinson is and always will be the goat, though, and is by far my favorite part of the film.

The Substance 2024
This could be the least subtle movie ever made. And yet, by gosh it ROCKS in the best/worst(?)/best(?!) way possible. While I try not to overuse “directorial vision”, the aesthetics, the acting, and even the sparse language all feel quite singular and executed to perfection. I.e. I walked out with the feeling that this was exactly what Fargeat wanted to make.
The extended gross-outs will live on in my mind forever, but probably the saddest and most emotionally affecting part…
