Thank God Meryl Streep figured out she could do comedy. Shoutout to @rcrivas for showing me this movie before the Sabrina Carpenter music video
I have refused to watch this as a teenager in the past but now that I have (in college), I will never not love this movie.
The weirdest script paired with an unironically good soundtrack what a combo. One of my favorite fun facts about this movie is that Rob Pattinson was almost fired halfway through filming bc he did not want to smile and wanted to play Edward as an emo tortured soul & he only started smiling when his agent called to warn him that producers were specifically visiting the set to see him
The first couple of minutes of this film was just spent me getting used to Rob Pattinson’s accent lol but he pulls it off well. A sci fi critique of the capitalism’s tendency to treat human labor as completely expendable melded into a rom com this was completely enjoyable and I could not stop thinking about Severance the entire time. The backstory of Mickey’s life and his relationship with Nassha were particularly bright points, while Mark Ruffalo’s Trump impression felt…
I watched this under the impression this was going to be a lesbian love story. The plot reads as two estranged friends reuniting again under an “extreme but strangely sweet situation.” Cancer movies need to out themselves immediately I don’t understand this strategy of burying the lead of a movie when the whole movie revolves around a plot point that is not necessarily a twist. I don’t wanna go into a rom com and find out it’s about domestic violence…
