Bong Joon Ho, Robert Pattinson, and a great cast all bring out their quirky side in this absurd sci-fi comedy. The political undertones are hard to miss at this day and age, but there are also a lot of inherent discussions about independence and free will. Bong returns to his creatures and the jumbo tardigrade-like species here are pretty memorable. This is probably too out there for some after Parasite, but it'll be good for fans of the director's other movies like Okja and Snowpiercer.

The Day the Earth Blew Up: A Looney Tunes Movie 2024
It's nice to see Looney Tunes still in the public consciousness but you can see how things have been updated for the modern age. Some jokes are a little edgier (wasn't expecting Daffy's butt to factor into jokes) and there are some aspects that have a more Spongebob-like humor. I didn't love the story, but there are some bits that call to mind the classic cartoons.

The Boogeyman 2023
Cliche concept of a CGI monster terrorizing a family. It doesn't strike any new ground, but it's competently made and well-acted. Not bad but not memorable either.

Seoul Station 2016
This was better than I expected. I enjoyed Train to Busan but I only recently discovered that this animated companion was on Amazon Prime. I realized that horror and animation are two genres that could go very well together, but I'm not really sure that I'd ever really seen. The animation and story in this were very well done. Sometimes the characters do stupid things, but that's not really a minus in a horror movie. This was an innovative extension of the Train to Busan universe and it's got me wondering if there's any other good animated horror out there.
