Daniel Day-Lewis is great in every movie he's in, but this is above and beyond. His portrayal of Christy Brown, an Irish author and painter who had cerebral palsy, is nothing short of transformative. It's a story of perseverance and triumph over life's obstacles, but doesn't paint Brown as a saint or a pity case. It paints him as a man who overcame the difficulties of his disability and willed himself into being more than just that.

Novocaine 2025
Fun little mix of rom-com and action. Jack Quaid and Amber Midthunder have enough charisma to elevate a so-so script with a novel premise. I didn't recognize Jack Nicholson's kid until after, but I can definitely see him doing some good things in the future. The story is about a guy that can't feel pain, and they definitely don't shy away from putting him through the wringer--have no doubt, this is not for the squeamish.

The Boogeyman 2023
Cliche concept of a CGI monster terrorizing a family. It doesn't strike any new ground, but it's competently made and well-acted. Not bad but not memorable either.

Seoul Station 2016
This was better than I expected. I enjoyed Train to Busan but I only recently discovered that this animated companion was on Amazon Prime. I realized that horror and animation are two genres that could go very well together, but I'm not really sure that I'd ever really seen. The animation and story in this were very well done. Sometimes the characters do stupid things, but that's not really a minus in a horror movie. This was an innovative extension of the Train to Busan universe and it's got me wondering if there's any other good animated horror out there.
