Anora 2024
First act is a fever dream of drugs and sex that firmly plants you in the characters’ world - looks miserable, tbh. Second act captures the manic energy of NYC immigrant communities and primarily comprises uncomfortable ‘not-sure-if-you-should-laugh’ moments. Third act is just a sad come-down and a reckoning for everything that has transpired (except for the rich, of course).
A well-deserved Academy-award winning lead performance backed by a well-deserved Academy-award winning script.
