  emotionally a very hard movie to process because of my family's relationship to drugs/addiction. Reminded me a lot of my own dad and cousin. i liked the portrayal of how consuming the addiction outside of their relationship with Nic (david having to step outside at his childs swim meet, lapping waves drowning out his kids recital)-- he can barely focus on anything else because, even when trying not to worry about his boy, it consumes him.

  in FREAKING IMAX!! i noticed a lot of small things I hadn't in previous viewings and i just got so immersed in the beauty of it all. Made me tear up. Sorry I gave it anything but 5 stars the first two times.

  what an amazing adaption, was really cool to hear the directors philosophy in the post movie interview which pretty much directly mirror what Fujimoto was intending in the source work. insanely goated animation, voice actor, and source material lineup. crazy it was Fujino VA's first voice acting gig, she was crazy good. gaaahhh i love animation and manga
