This film was truly remarkable. I saw the 35mm version (thank you Brian) and couldn't get it out of my head for a while. The vistavision the bid screen was amazing. Superb acting. incredible score and sound. A deconstruction of the American dream. Involuntary servitude to regain one’s dignity. Intamacy with a lover after trauma. Fitting into a new land. Life informing art. There is a lot to unpack. Like Brutalist architecture it was grand and raw but also quiet…

The Bikeriders 2023
Danny Lyons was one of my heroes when I was riding motorcycles to Photography school. I’m also Lucky to have been around motorcycle culture in my youth. This movie is all about that vibe. Not far off. I was really hoping it would be more free form, however it was closer to bio-pic form. Butler’s trying really hard to be Marlon Brando. But I’ll take it. Jody Comer, Michael Shannon and Tom Hardy are great.

The Last Waltz 1978
I watch this movie and play it loud every thanksgiving. I guess you can call it tradition. At this point, my kids know it well. It’s an incredible film about one of the most important bands in my life. The smell of home cooking and a house full of family makes me feel closer to the feeling that Thanksgiving day in 1977.
