  The biggest praise I have for this movie is the script. As a thriller, it depends on moments of suspense and waiting. However, the conversations and debates this film poses are extremely interesting and enticing. The three stars each shine in their unique roles. The balance between them shifts in a way that makes you wonder where the dynamic is leading. I was able to understand each character regardless of how much they actually ended up saying. A movie that really kept me on my toes!

  I was always a little bit confused. Not necessarily on what was going on, but more so just a wave of confusion running over me. Strong payoff with the ending, but a lot of the middle doesn't equate to that. Final verdict: Usual.

  To say that this movie kept me disturbed the entire time is an understatement. The Substance is a movie I want to recommend to everyone but know that it’s not for everyone. Everything from the concept, to the cinematography, to the acting was top notch. No doubt a thriller that will be remembered.
