Most extraordinary Shakespeare adaptation I've seen on screen. I understand the choice to keep everything on-screen in game but I felt this meant some of the conversations between the theatre makers and the documentary maker (to describe them formally) happening in game felt contrived. Captures the late reign, edge of violence era of Shakespearean Elizabethan England in a late stage capitalist context like nothing else I can think of. What's next – Fall Out 4 Macbeth?

Great performance from JO and Carol D in particular. I enjoy the unique combination of practical and magical realism in AW's films, this one no exception. And always something to observe about groups of people working and living together and those outside them.

Preposterous even on its own terms. The Apocalypse Now references and slave trade/First Nations analogies are embarrassing. Passed the time on a summer evening and mocking it an enjoyable activity. A star for how good the apes look.

More life and emotion in one scene of Freeman standing alone in Bag End than in the entire rest of the film. Really couldn’t see the point of this one.
