Picked this as I wanted a film to fall asleep to on a Sunday afternoon. Bonus that I was in Stan Laurel's home town this weekend. Did not fall asleep but everything else as expected. Solid, undemanding and pretty sweet.
Julia Roberts surpasses her "do you work on commission" speech by listing phone numbers. That's not even a joke and I think sums up just how good this movie is.
Before there was Bull Durham, there was City Slickers. I watched this so many times as a teenager, apparently I've always had a thing for middle of the road dad movies.
And on that, it feels a lot different watching this approaching my 39th birthday, the same Billy Crystal's character is celebrating in the movie. It's so squarely targeted at men approaching middle age and wondering where their youth has got to.
