  Young Paul Dano in the most Stephen King on a coke binge story meets Larry Clark flick ever. Super fucked, really weird and bleak as hell with some solid early 2000’s industrial nostalgia.

  I have to say, Paul Dano looked genuinely terrified.. so much so that I’m wondering if him and Brian Cox’ scenes were improvised. Disturbing stuff

  This felt like it was meant to be a good time rather than a super-serious competitive remake. Lots of glowing eyes + the trance scenes did it for me, the vamps on the roof, the kid at the window - couldn’t have asked for much more. Also really happy to see Lewis Pullman pop up all over the place lately and William Sadler nail the Maine accent.

  I will say that EVERYTHING was kinda crammed in there and then some, but fuck it - 4 stars. I dug it

  Absolutely fantastic. This film is reminiscent of the Friday the 13th franchise; a total rarity in this day and age and they really hit the nail on the head (no pun intended). There are plenty of newer campy horror films that I love, but to capture the essence of one of the OGs is quite the feat.

  
  + an extra star for the scene that goes from Blue Öyster Cult to Chelsea Wolfe and back again. Phenomenal all around
